Resonate is a group of dynamic women who embrace lifelong learning, collaboration and connection through music. We aim to connect young women in high-school with adult women in our community and to enable their full participation in the creation and performance of meaningful art. We ask our singers and director to push their limits in the interest of creating beauty, ease, depth and connection; to grow in skill, self confidence, and capacity for fun!
Resonate has serious ambitions to make the world a little kinder, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Our toolkit is vast and eclectic! We use kazoos, ukuleles, stories, movement, homemade props, improv, bingo, and meditation. Our repertoire includes Queen, The Andrew Sisters, traditional and non-traditional folk songs, ethereal harmonies, and Ani DiFranco. There’s beauty and meaning in a lot of stuff, and we strive to keep learning about it and connecting to it in new ways.
Rehearsals include warm-ups and learning exercises to expand musicianship, performance confidence and other skills that are a benefit in music and in life. We share our music and spoken word performances at community events, care facilities and other places where our music will benefit the wider community.
